Cambodia Gambling Halls
December 3rd, 2020 by Mikaela

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia casinos that lie just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, where gambling hall betting is not legal. Eight casinos are situated in a relatively tiny location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent location, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing income acquired from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few controls requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; however, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to cross, there are means around this, as is real of most border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored ship gambling hall, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machines and 60 tables. The Naga river boat never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of 21, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of 150 slots and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 one armed bandits and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the common table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive vacation and hotel compound that contains numerous conveniences in addition to the casino, which offers 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight table games.
